2017

Postgraduate scholarship competition:

Application deadline: March 22, 2017 at 5 p.m.

The Geotop Postgraduate Scholarships programme is for students enrolled in a graduate programme, M.Sc. and Ph.D., who are working under the supervision of Geotop researchers. We will offer 10 scholarships of $5,000 for 2017.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Must not have exceeded the statutory length of study for the program (2 years M.Sc. or 4 years Ph.D.) when the scholarship is awarded.
  • Must not hold any major scholarship (NSERC, SSHRC, FRQSC, FRQNT, Vanier) at the time of the competition results.
  • Must be supervised by two or more Geotop regular researchers.
  • Must be registered for, attend, and give a presentation (talk or poster) at the Geotop Student Conference in March 2017. (Note that if exceptional circumstances prevent conference attendance, the student should indicate this in their application. These applications will be treated on a case-by-case basis.)

Evaluation criteria:

  • Average cumulative GPA
  • Year of registration on current programme
  • Number of publications and presentations
  • Involvement in Geotop activities

The application must include:

  • A completed application form Form_schol_17.doc
  • A copy of the student’s complete academic transcript (starting with B.Sc.)

Important:

  • Incomplete applications will be rejected
  • Applications from students who did not register to the student conference before the deadline will be rejected 
  • Scholarships will be awarded to a maximum of 2 students per researcher (acting as either supervisor or cosupervisor).

  • Applicants must have an average cumulative GPA of at least 3.2/4.3 or the equivalent.

  • Must be supervised by two or more Geotop regular researchers.
  • Must register for*, attend, and give a presentation (talk or poster) at the Geotop Student Conference in February 2015. (Note that if exceptional circumstances prevent conference attendance, the student should indicate this in their application. These applications will be treated on a case-by-case basis.)
