Mes activités de recherche concernent les changements climatiques holocènes dans l’Arctique canadien à travers ma participation à des programmes de recherches internationaux tels CASES (Canadian Arctic Shelf exchange study), ArcticNet et JWACS (Joint western Arctic climate study). L’utilisation des assemblages fossiles de kystes de dinoflagellés et de fonctions de transfert utilisant la méthode des meilleurs analogues permet la reconstitution quantitative des paramètres des masses d’eau de surface (température, salinité et durée du couver de glace de mer) dans les régions à l’étude (e.g. détroit d’Hudson, Nord de la baie de Baffin, chenaux de l’archipel Arctique canadien et mer de Beaufort). Je m’intéresse aussi à établir les affinités biologiques (relations thèque-kyste) des espèces de kystes de dinoflagellés qui sont utilisées pour les reconstitutions paléoenvironnementales. Des incubations (kystes), l’établissement de cultures algales et de l’observation en microscopie électronique sont nécessaires pour établir le lien entre les formes mobiles (thécales) et enkystées.
