Characterizing dust samples to assess trace element hosts and dust provenance, with application to lithium mines
Identifying the different contributors to dust can help understand potential hazards and provide information for mitigation strategies. Mapping possible sources and tracing dust back to them is not a resolved issue and requires extensive dust characterization from combined methods and statistical representability from the obtained data. This doctoral research aims to tackle this issue by developing a characterization method that includes trace element analysis for individual minerals, which also accounts for the statistical representability of the sampling methods and the automation of the analysis of large amounts of data.
