Becoming a member

Regular members

According to FRQ rules, regular members can only be university researchers, clinical university researchers or college researchers1. Regular members must apply to renew their membership every 3 years, explaining why they wish to belong to the center and what collaborative research they carry out that meets the objectives of the center's research axes.

Staff members

Geotop recognizes the research and training work of its many employees: chargé·e·s de cours, lecturers, contract (“sous octroi de subvention”) researchers, government researchers, laboratory managers, technicians and research support staff. These categories do not fall within the FRQ's definition of “regular member”. Nevertheless, Geotop recognizes them as full members of the center, but with different rights and duties than regular members.

Collaborating members

Geotop’s collaborating members include researchers outside Quebec who have collaborations with one or more Geotop members, and researchers residing in Quebec who have occasional collaborations, within the scope of the group's scientific program, with one or more regular members.

Invited members

Invited members are members who are visiting Geotop, for example on sabbatical. They are invited by a regular Geotop member and conduct their research at one of the center's partner universities. They are strongly encouraged to interact with the center's scientific community, whether through the development of research projects with one or more regular members, seminars, courses or any other activity.
