The laboratory is used for sample preparation of sediments for mineralogical analysis (global and clay) by X-ray and chemical X-ray fluorescence.
The determination of the mineralogical signature (X-ray diffraction) and chemical (X-ray fluorescence) of sediments from sedimentary basin allows the: (1) reconstruction of the variability of detrital, (2) tracing of the origin of sediments and (3) documentation of the influence of climatic and oceanographic changes on sediment dynamics over time.
